Zom Falbu is a time-traveling shapeshiftress. This is a painting I made of her caught in the act of shifting shape. Her story is one of the old ones. It is told by the second chronicler, Lace. For Bek and Kar, the story of Zom Falbu is vague and spotty, almost lost. Truly, it’s not one they know at all well.
This is a new character. She is a cragger, and she says her name is Dodden. She popped into my head the other day and demanded that I write her story. When I get all the facts straight, I’ll write it down. All I know so far is that she lost her right eye when she was young, and it was replaced with a Rainbow Eye of Sight by the lavender witch, Babba Ja Harick.
The cottage of the lavender witch, Babba Ja Harick, is located deep in the Danken Wood. Bek and Kar know all there is to know about it, although they have never seen it. But they will. They undertake a visit to the cottage in Bekka’s second chronicle, The Carven Flute, and hear from the witch the story of her sister, who flew down the well to Earth long ago and met two children, Hansel and Gretel.
This is the oh so boring River Dragon from one of Bek and Kar’s favorite Gwer drollek stories, the one about Princess Lorelei Lo being raised in this Dragon’s underground lair. Why is the Dragon boring? She loves to tell stories that drag on seemingly forever. Drag on. Get it? Dragon.
And here is Mimsy the Sprite, orange light, the River Dragon’s best friend. Look closely. You can see her in there. Why is she the River Dragon’s best friend? She is the only creature in the universe that loves to listen to the Dragon’s stories.
Bekka’s inspiration for adventuring in the Woeful Wanderers’ Wasteland came from one of her favorite Gwer drollek (Once upon a time) stories, the one telling all about Blinky Greenwing (above), Bodgy of Thorns (below), and how they entered Rumin, the underground city.
